Chapters 19 and 20
In this week's lab students examine the components of blood.
For the blood component of the lab, they will measure the hematocrit and determine the hemoglobin concentration of a small sample of bovine blood.
The teaching assistants perform several demonstrations, including white blood cell staining, red blood cell counting and microcirculation with a frog. Finally students learn about blood typing and practice using antibodies to determine the blood type of unknown samples of synthetic blood.
